The 8th annual ChickenFest is set to be held at The Record Park at the corner of Fourth and E streets in North Wilkesboro. ChickenFest is a celebration of Americana music and the area’s poultry industry.  This event is hosted by The Record and is free to attend.

On Friday evening music will begin at 6 p.m., with a welcome by North Wilkesboro Mayor, Robert Johnson, and Record Publisher, Ken Welborn. This segment of the event will be WKBC Radio’s Hometown Opry night and will be emceed by WKBC’s Ed Racey and Steve Handy.

Saturday the music begins at 11 a.m., with the acoustic music group Darby Road. Blue Ridge Music Hall of Fame members David Johnson and Eric Ellis will end the day of music on Saturday evening. Sunday will begin with a church service by Arbor Grove United Methodist Church. The music will resume at noon and conclude at mid afternoon.

A children’s play area will be provided. Food, which will be all chicken dishes, will be prepared and sold by Arbor Grove United Methodist Church and Dennyville Baptist Church.
